Calls For Maturity, Unity Among Ndi Anambra Ahead of 2027

In a time when political tension continues to test personal bonds across Nigeria, a staunch member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has raised a touching concern over how partisan politics is threatening to destroy years of brotherhood and friendship.

The APGA stalwart, who recently made his political stance public by reaffirming his loyalty to APGA, has expressed disappointment that his close friend, *Nwoke Utuh Mbadike*, has suddenly cut off communication with him, allegedly because of their divergent political affiliations.

According to him, his friend Mbadike, who is known to be supporting various other candidates in the *African Democratic Congress (ADC)*, stopped picking his calls immediately after he declared his interest to remain in APGA.

Narrating his ordeal in an emotional open letter to his friend, he said:

> “Opposition politics should not spoil the brotherhood we had. Since I made my interest open to remain in APGA, my friend Nwoke Utuh Mbadike stopped picking my calls because he supports various other candidates in ADC.
>
> Nwannem, we have the same destination in life but just that we decided to follow different routes, I choose Tinubu while you choose Atiku which should not come between us.
>
> Remember, I use to buy drinks for you ooo.”

*A Message That Resonates With Many*

The heartfelt message has continued to generate reactions, especially among youths in Nnewi South and across Anambra State, many of whom have experienced similar rifts with friends and family members over political choices.

For many, the 2027 political season is already showing signs of deep divisions, with supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on one side and supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the other, while at the state level, APGA, ADC, APC, and Labour Party faithfuls are also drawing battle lines.

The APGA member, however, believes that democracy should be about the contest of ideas and not about making enemies.

“We may belong to different political parties, but we drink from the same stream, we attend the same village meetings, our children play together. Politics will come and go, but brotherhood remains,” he added in a follow-up chat.

*Call For Political Tolerance*

He called on Ndi Igbo, especially young politicians and supporters, to embrace political tolerance and maturity, stressing that no political ambition is worth the friendship built over the years.

He urged his friend Mbadike to remember the good old days of shared laughter, support, and those moments of buying drinks for each other, which money cannot buy.

Political analysts in Awka who reacted to the story said the incident is a reflection of the growing intolerance in Nigeria’s political space, where opposition is now seen as enmity.

They advised that leaders of APGA, ADC, APC, PDP and other parties should continuously educate their followers on the need to keep politics as a game and not as war.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to reach Nwoke Utuh Mbadike for his own side of the story were unsuccessful, as his phone line was still not connecting.

But the message from his friend remains clear: *Let politics not divide us. We are brothers first, politicians second.*
