NYWC Honours NRC Engineering Directors with Ambassadorial Awards and Visits Railway Heritage Museum Lagos, Nigeria

In a symbolic and highly inspiring ceremony, the Nigeria Youth World Council (NYWC) presented Ambassadorial Awards to two esteemed engineers of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) for their distinguished service and contribution to national development in the transport and engineering sectors.

The event was led by Rotr. Amb. Odika Uzochukwu Franklin, Chairman of the Board of Council Directors, who was accompanied by delegates from the NYWC National Leadership and Lagos State Chapter. The delegation visited the NRC headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, to present the NYWC Ambassadorial Certificates of Recognition to:

• Engr. Jerry I.O. Oche, B.Eng, MBA, COREN, MNSE
Director, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal & Telecommunications, NRC
• Engr. Zainab K. Mamudu, MNSE, MNICE, ASCE
Assistant Director of Works, NRC
During the presentation, Engr. Jerry Oche expressed his appreciation, saying:
“It is truly an honour to receive this award. Recognitions like this show that young Nigerians are paying attention, and it encourages us to do even more.”

Similarly, Engr. Zainab Mamudu shared her gratitude, noting:
“This is a great honour. Nigeria has all the potential for mentorship, and we must continue to encourage and invest in youth leadership in the engineering and transport sectors.”

The NYWC delegation also embarked on a heritage tour of the Jaekel House Museum, a historic landmark managed in partnership with Legacy 1995, an NGO focused on preserving Nigeria’s historical assets. Upon arrival, the team was welcomed by Mr. Henry Oyediran, curator of the museum, who led a guided tour through the colonial-era buildings and vintage railway artifacts housed within the museum complex.

In his remarks, Amb. Franklin commended both the NRC and Legacy for their continued efforts in preserving Nigeria’s railway history. He emphasized the importance of connecting Nigerian youths with the nation’s past as a catalyst for future leadership and innovation.
