Nigeria Youth World Council Celebrates One Year in Office of the MD, Dr. Kayode Opeifa

The Director General of the Nigeria Youth World Council (NYWC), Rotr. Ambassador Odika Uzochukwu Nicolas Franklyn, has officially congratulated and celebrated the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on his One Year Anniversary in Office, having formally assumed leadership on January 30, 2025.
In a goodwill message released to the press, the Director General commended the MD for his visionary and transformational leadership, noting that his appointment marked a strategic turning point in the acceleration of Nigeria’s railway modernization agenda.
The NYWC highlighted the MD’s strong professional background, including his previous service as Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation and Transport Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which has significantly contributed to policy innovation and sector-wide reforms within the railway system.
Over the past year, the NRC under his leadership has focused on:
Modernizing and expanding the national rail network
Improving operational efficiency and service delivery
Enhancing passenger safety and infrastructure security
Integrating advanced technology into railway operations
Addressing maintenance challenges nationwide
Strengthening railway connectivity in alignment with the Federal Government’s “Renewed Hope” development agenda
Rotr. Ambassador Odika Uzochukwu Nicolas Franklyn described the one-year milestone as “a testament to purposeful leadership, resilience, and commitment to national infrastructure growth.”
He further emphasized that a functional and efficient railway system plays a crucial role in youth empowerment, economic expansion, job creation, and national unity.
The Nigeria Youth World Council reaffirmed its institutional support for policies and programs that promote sustainable transportation development and youth inclusion within Nigeria’s evolving railway ecosystem.
The Council concluded by wishing the Managing Director continued success, greater achievements, and strengthened impact in the years ahead.
