Rotr Ambassador Odika Uzochukwu Nicolas Franklyn, Director General of the Nigeria Youth World Council and Director of International Relations and Foreign Affairs of the United Nigerian Youth Congress, hereby express my deepest concern and total displeasure over the recurring xenophobic attacks and acts of violence targeted at Nigerians and other African nationals residing in South Africa.

It is heartbreaking to witness our Nigerian brothers and sisters, alongside fellow Africans, subjected to intimidation, harassment, attacks, and the destruction of their means of livelihood. Such actions are not only unacceptable but also contradict the spirit of African unity, brotherhood, and mutual coexistence upon which the African continent was founded.

The continued victimization of Africans by fellow Africans is a barbaric act that undermines regional integration, economic cooperation, and the collective progress of our continent. No African should be treated as a stranger in Africa.

I therefore call on the Government of South Africa, security agencies, traditional institutions, civil society organizations, and all relevant stakeholders to immediately intervene and put an end to these acts of xenophobia. Concrete measures must be taken to guarantee the safety, dignity, and rights of all African nationals living and conducting legitimate businesses within South Africa.

Failure by the relevant authorities to decisively address this situation may compel African youth organizations and concerned stakeholders to mobilize peaceful continental actions, including advocacy campaigns aimed at holding institutions and companies accountable for their silence in the face of these injustices.

Africa must stand united. We must reject hatred, discrimination, and violence in all forms. The future of our continent depends on our ability to protect one another and promote peace, justice, and solidarity among all Africans.

Together, we can build a stronger and more united Africa.
